Outline of International Student Admission Procedures
(Admission in April 2011)

Chuo University gives a special entrance examination for international students (except the Department of Chinese Language and Culture at the Faculty of Letters).
The following information is a tentative outline of admission procedures only and does not in any way constitute a contract. For exact details, applicants must refer to the Japanese text of this pamphlet.

As lectures are given in Japanese, applicants are required to have sufficient Japanese language proficiency to understand lectures.

Faculty of Commerce
(Type-A application)
	Application period: October 22-28, 2010 Examination date: Written Examination: December 11, 2010 Interview: January 8, 2011 Announcement of results: January 21, 2011 Registration period: January 24-February 4, 2011 Date of admission: April 1, 2011
Faculties of Economics, and Commerce(Type-B application)
	Application period: November 24-30, 2011 Examination date: No written examination or interview. Announcement of results: January 21, 2011 Registration period: January 24-February 4, 2011 Date of admission: April 1, 2011

Submission of Application


Applications must be sent in Japan by express and delivery-recorded mail to the International Center, Chuo University.
Applications from certain countries are acceptable and must be sent as "Registered Post by Air Mail."

Qualifications and Conditions

[1]	Applicants for admission through a special entrance examination for international students must have a foreign nationality and fulfill either of the following conditions:
	1.	Applicants must have completed 12 years of school education in countries other than Japan. Those who have resided in Japan for 3 years or longer in total during the period of their junior and senior high school education are not eligible to take the special entrance examination for international students.
	2.	For details, please inquire at the International Center, Chuo University
[2]	Applicants must take the 2010 Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) . Faculty of Law Japanese, Japan and the World*, and Mathematics (Course 1)*. *Examination language is Japanese. Faculty of Economics(Type-A application) Japanese. Faculty of Economics(Type-B application) Either 1. or 2.: 1. Japanese, Japan and the World* ,and Mathematics (Course 1)'. *Examination language is English. 2. Japanese, Japan and the World*, and Mathematics (Course 1)'. *Examination language is Japanese. In addition, applicants must submit a score of TOEFL-PBT 430, TOEFL-iBT 39, TOEIC 470, or IELTS (Academic module) 4.5 at least Faculty of Commerce (Type-A application) Japanese. Faculty of Commerce (Type-B application) Either 1. or 2. : 1. Japanese, Japan and the World*, and Mathematics (Course 1 or Course 2)*. *Examination language is English. 2. Japanese, Japan and the World*, and Mathematics (Course 1 or Course 2)*. *Examination language is Japanese. In addition, applicants must submit a score of TOEFL-PBT 430, TOEFL-iBT 39, TOEIC 470, or IELTS(Academic module) 4.5 at least. Faculty of Science and Engineering Japanese, Mathematics (Course 2)*, and Science (Physics , Chemistry or Biology)*. *Examination language is Japanese. *Applicants must select two subjects from Physics,Chemistry or Biology. Faculty of Letters Japanese. Faculty of Policy Studies Japanese.

Documents to be submitted

1.	Application card, with one photograph affixed
2.	Application form, with one photograph affixed
3.	Certificate of senior high school graduation or certificate of expected graduation
4.	Transcript of senior high school
5.	Certificate of junior high school graduation (only for those who have resided in Japan during the period of their junior and senior high school)
6.	Photocopy of valid passport
7.	Photocopy of the admission card for the 2010 Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU)
8.	Personal statement describing reasons for studying at Chuo University (only for Type-B application for the Faculties of Economics,and Commerce)

<For Type-B application of the Faculties of Commerce only>
Score report of either TOEFL, TOEIC, or IELTS.
TOEFL score must be sent to Chuo University directly from ETS (Educational Testing Service, U.S.A. )

Application Fee
Faculties of Law, Economics (Type-A application),
Commerce(Type-A application), Science and Engineering, Letters, and Policy Studies: ￥35,000.
Faculties of Economics (Type-B application), and Commerce (Type-B application): ￥15,000.
The fee is paid in Japanese yen to the designated Chuo University's bank account through a bank in Japan.
Please contact the International Center, Chuo University, when you cannot pay the fee through a bank in Japan.
Selection
Faculties of Law, Economics(Type-A application) , Commerce (Type-A application), Science and Engineering, Letters, and Policy Studies:
Admission is determined on the basis of a written examination and an interview. Subjects of the written examination are both in Japanese and in English.
Faculties of Economics(Type-B application) Commerce (Type-B application):
Admission is determined on the basis of the results of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU), as well as the submitted documents. There is no written examination or interview.
