Outline of International Student Admission Procedures
(Admission in April 2011)
Chuo University gives a special entrance examination for international students (except the Department of Chinese Language and Culture at the Faculty of Letters).
The following information is a tentative outline of admission procedures only and does not in any way constitute a contract. For exact details, applicants must refer to the Japanese text of this pamphlet.
Please note:As lectures are given in Japanese, applicants are required to have sufficient Japanese language proficiency to understand lectures.

Submission of Application
Applications must be sent in Japan by express and delivery-recorded mail to the International Center, Chuo University.
Applications from certain countries are acceptable and must be sent as "Registered Post by Air Mail."
Qualifications and Conditions

Applicants for admission through a special entrance examination for international students must have a foreign nationality and fulfill either of the following conditions: |

Applicants must have completed 12 years of school education in countries other than Japan. Those who have resided in Japan for 3 years or longer in total during the period of their junior and senior high school education are not eligible to take the special entrance examination for international students. |

Score report of either TOEFL, TOEIC, or IELTS.
TOEFL score must be sent to Chuo University directly from ETS (Educational Testing Service, U.S.A. )
Application FeeFaculties of Law, Economics (Type-A application),
Commerce(Type-A application), Science and Engineering, Letters, and Policy Studies: ¥35,000.
Faculties of Economics (Type-B application), and Commerce (Type-B application): ¥15,000.
The fee is paid in Japanese yen to the designated Chuo University's bank account through a bank in Japan.
Please contact the International Center, Chuo University, when you cannot pay the fee through a bank in Japan.
SelectionFaculties of Law, Economics(Type-A application) , Commerce (Type-A application), Science and Engineering, Letters, and Policy Studies:Admission is determined on the basis of a written examination and an interview. Subjects of the written examination are both in Japanese and in English.
Faculties of Economics(Type-B application) Commerce (Type-B application):Admission is determined on the basis of the results of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU), as well as the submitted documents. There is no written examination or interview.
